Sport medicine

At the Quarenghi Clinical Institute there is a PRIVATE STUDIO OF SPORT MEDICINE, which integrates the rehabilitative specialties (orthopedic and neuromotor, cardiology and respiratory) exercised at the Institute.

The studio offers the possibility to have a valid visit to the achievement of fitness for sporting practice specific. It is addressed to those who practice sport, both at a competitive level (and therefore associated with Sports Clubs) and at the recreational-individual level.

The doctor, specialist in Sports Medicine, performs the visits and instrumental examinations, using the latest equipment. He will be assisted by the specialist in cardiology, if during the visit the need arises to carry out further in-depth investigations (for example Ecocardiocolordoppler, dynamic ecg according to holter, maximal loop ergometer test, cardiological examination).

The Institute provides a quality service by reducing the waiting time necessary to obtain the certificates of sporting fitness and good health.

USEFUL INFORMATIOM

Health care

Anamnesis (reported by the parent if a minor, even with a special form)

Urinalysis

Weight and height detection

Spirometry

Physical examination (including sensory evaluation, examination of the musculoskeletal system, of the thorax, of the cardio-circulatory system with detection of systemic blood pressure, examination of the abdomen and of genital organs, if requested by the patient or parents if minor, eg for varicocele)

Control of visual acuity, color sense and hearing ability

Electrocardiogram (ECG) at rest and during exercise (step test)

For male athletes over 40 or carriers with risk factors (familiarity for cardiovascular diseases, smokers, diabetics etc.) and female athletes in menopause, it is recommended to perform a maximum test to the cycle ergometer, in order to evaluate in depth the blood pressure response to the physical exertion as well as the coronary reserve and to exclude the risk of latent ischemic heart disease.
